Tarrytown Dance is the premier dance studio in central Austin, Texas. TTD offers a wide variety of classes including ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater, hip hop, tap and acrobatics. Leigh Simmons, studio director, has been teaching dance for 40 years and has danced professionally. Leigh’s outstanding faculty has assisted dancers of all ages to grow exponentially in their dance education. TTD has seven competitive dance teams, a pre-professional company and hosts an annual Nutcracker Petite performance to feature their youngest ballerinas. Tarrytown Dance is also starting a new dance program for senior citizens called Senior Shine, which will begin fall of 2018.

The Ballet Austin Academy* is the official ballet school of Ballet Austin serving more than 900 students each year. Ballet Austin II*, established in 1999 by Associate Artistic Director Michelle Martin, is Ballet Austin’s second and apprentice company, which offers an opportunity for post high school, advanced dancers to hone their skills in a professional environment. The Butler Fellowship Program* offers 15 fully-underwritten scholarships to outstanding dancers, and features an innovative and personal approach to a traditional, professional-track training. They rehearse and perform with the main company and Ballet Austin II in main stage, touring and educational performances.

Dance Xplosion was opened by lifetime dancer Amber Frishman in 2008. Dance Xplosion is a learning, training and performing facility for all forms of dance with an exciting Annual Recital held in the spring at the conclusion of each school year.

Year-round classes are offered with the “regular schedule” held from August through May. Summer classes, camps, intensives and workshops are held in June and July. Guest teachers from around the country hold special master classes throughout the year which are open to both current and future Dance Xplosion students.

Synergy Dance Studio offers classes to all ages 2 and up and to all levels of training, beginning through pre-professional. We specialize in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet and Pointe and offer specialty dance classes in Acro, Modern, Contemporary and Drill Team. We offer private and semi-private instruction and choreography for special events and competitions. Our studios offer suspended hard wood and marley floors to help prevent injury, wall to wall mirrors and observation windows. Our classes are limited in size and are grouped by age and ability. Our focus is on promoting self-discipline, self-respect and most importantly self-confidence.

A cultural treasure of the Austin community, this ballet academy has been providing the finest classical ballet training for over 25 years. Prior to opening the Slavin Nadal School of Ballet in 1989, Eugene Slavin and Alexandra Nadal were the founders of Ballet Austin and the Ballet Austin Academy (1983), and served as Artistic Directors of Ballet Austin and its predecessors – Austin Civic Ballet and Academy – for 17 years (1972–1989).

Students who have studied ballet exclusively at Slavin Nadal School of Ballet have transitioned directly into professional careers with excellent ballet companies – an important factor in the assessment of any serious ballet school.

Ballet Arts of Austin offers superior training in Russian-based classical ballet technique and artistry for children and adults. Youth classes begin at age three, and curriculum extends through the pre-professional level.
