Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Ballet Department
Here is a fun one. The ballet department lives inside IU's Jacobs School of Music, which is one of the most respected music schools in the country, so dancers train alongside serious musicians. Students perform full-length classical ballets backed by a live orchestra, which is a luxury most college programs just cannot offer. The great Balanchine ballerina Violette Verdy taught here for years and shaped its identity.
